Chronic Periapical Abscess

Chronic Periapical Abscess

Alta Stomatology is an innovative oral disease research company dedicated to developing effective solutions for chronic periapical abscess. Periapical abscess is the most common type of tooth abscess. A periapical abscess occurs at the root tip as a result of untreated dental caries, crack, or trauma. A chronic abscess can turn into an acute abscess at any point. At Alta Stomatology, we're dedicated to offering one-stop services for chronic periapical abscess research, including whole-genome sequencing, the development of novel therapies, and the molecular mechanisms behind this disorder. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us.

Research on Chronic Periapical Abscess

A periapical abscess is a collection of pus that occurs at the root tip as due to bacterial infection. The periapical abscess usually occurs when bacteria spread to the tooth pulp through a crack or dental caries. Chronic apical abscess (CAA) is a lesion of apical periodontitis mostly characterized by areas of liquefactive necrosis with disintegrating polymorphonuclear neutrophils surrounded by macrophages. It can cause tooth pain, swelling, and other symptoms. If a periapical abscess is left untreated, it can lead to serious, even life-threatening complications.

Presence or absence of periapical pathology determines prognosis of the tooth in the oral cavity. Initial radiographic diagnosis and clinical examination helps in early primary care for better prognosis. Early preventive care/surgical intervention help to prevent further spread of the inflammatoty lesion and prevent further bone destruction. The relation between the histological clinical and radiographic aspects may provide valuable data both for establishing an accurate diagnosis and for the effective treatment.

Our Services

At Alta Stomatology, we are committed to providing top-notch services in the field of oral disease research, specifically focusing on metabolomics and immunohistochemical analysis. Metabolomics has proved to be a powerful tool for biomarkers discovery which could give novel molecular insight on CAA. Therefore, it seems to be important to use a novel approach to study CAA. The immunohistochemical panel for abscesses suggests the participation of innate immune response in the majority of the lesions. The quality of root fillings was found to be a significant factor in the success rates of nonsurgical root canal treatment, with the highest odds ratio among numerous affecting factors. Various types of endodontic sealers and filling techniques have been advocated to accomplish satisfactory root filling.

Our Diagnosis Methods

At Alta Stomatology, we understand the importance of accurate diagnosis in treating chronic periapical abscess effectively. That's why we have developed cutting-edge diagnosis methods to guide the diagnosis and assessment of the severity of apical periodontitis disease.

Diagnosis Methods Description
X-ray Radiograph We employ state-of-the-art X-ray technology to obtain detailed images of the teeth, enabling our experts to diagnose periapical inflammatory lesions.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) CBCT offers 3 dimensional evaluation of the maxillofacial region with minimal distortion. It can detect periapical lesions in many cases. CBCT scans provide a three dimensional evaluation of periapical pathology along with information of the canal morphology.
