Lichen Planus, Lp

Alta Stomatology is an innovative oral disease research company dedicated to developing effective solutions for lichen planus. Oral lichen planus is a kind of oral epithelial disorder featured with keratinocyte apoptosis and inflammatory reaction. At Alta Stomatology, we're dedicated to offering one-stop services for lichen planus research, including whole-genome sequencing, the development of novel therapies, and the molecular mechanisms behind this disorder. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us.

Research on Lichen Planus, Lp

Lichen planus (LP) is a group of chronic inflammatory diseases affecting stratified squamous epithelia. LP is perceived as a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease, in which cytotoxic CD8+ T-cells are recruited into the skin and subsequently lead to an interface dermatitis. Viruses, drugs and contact allergens have all been reported to be possibly associated with development of LP. Clinically, LP is hallmarked by characteristic lesions, affecting the skin, hair, nails and/or mucous membranes.

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a mucosal variant of LP, which tends to be chronic, often requiring long-term treatment and clinical surveillance. It is seen clinically as reticular, papular, plaque-like, erosive, atrophic or bullous types. Intraorally, the buccal mucosa, tongue and the gingiva are commonly involved although other sites may be rarely affected. Several clinical subtypes of OLP have been reported, including the reticular and erosive one. On the one hand, reticular OLP is usually asymptomatic and is characterized by white streaks surrounded by well-defined erythematous borders. On the other hand, erosive OLP shows ulcerations and erosions surrounded by erythematous mucosa. While reticular OLP is relatively easy to control, erosive OLP is extremely painful and refractory to therapies, limiting the quality of life of the patients.

Our Services

At Alta Stomatology, we are committed to providing top-notch services in the field of oral disease research, specifically focusing on lichen planus and and its prevention and treatment. Metabolomics provides an opportunity to study the pathogenesis of the diseases, which is a well-established method and one of the major components in systems biology. The analytical samples can be obtained from tissues, urine, or serum, of which tissue metabolomics can most directly analyze the pathological changes of the lesion. Metabolomics methods have been widely used to characterize the metabolic change and identify the abnormal metabolism in patients with OLP.

Our Diagnosis Methods

At Alta Stomatology, we understand the importance of accurate diagnosis for effective treatment of lichen planus. That's why we have developed cutting-edge diagnosis methods to guide the diagnosis and assessment of the severity of oral mucosa disease.

Diagnosis Methods Description
Immunofluorescence After mucosal tissue was taken for immunohistochemistry analysis according to conventional protocols, images of the sections were obtained through a fluorescence microscope. Diagnosis of OLP is based on tissue characteristics of sections.
