Research on Non-Odontogenic Tumors of the Jaw

Non-odontogenic tumors of the jaw are relatively rare, with complex causes and a wide variety. They can be divided into two types, benign tumors and malignant tumors.

Benign tumors mainly include osteoma, osteochondroma, osteoid osteoma, and some fibroblastic tumors. They have clear boundaries and grow slowly. Generally, they are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms, have little impact and rarely become malignant. However, if the tumor is large or in a special location and not treated in time, it may affect joint activities, compress nerves and blood vessels, or cause skeletal deformities.

Malignant tumors mainly include some fibroblastic tumors and myeloid-derived malignant tumors, with rapid growth and unclear boundaries. They can cause pain and swelling in the tumor area, and cause osteoporosis, osteolytic and osteogenic bone destruction. Currently, they are managed primarily through surgical removal, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

Imaging-guided minimally invasive therapeutic techniques, such as radiofrequency ablation, laser ablation, and cryoablation, have great prospects in the management of osteoid osteoma.

Diagnosis Methods Description
Radiography Examination We employ state-of-the-art radiography technology to obtain detailed images of the location of the lesion, type of lesion, etc., enabling our experts to accurately identify tumors occurring in the jaw.
3D CT 3D CT analysis tools provide a more complete picture of bone destruction and help to visualize large, significantly destructive lesions occurring in the jaws.
MRI Scan Test MRI scans have a high resolution for soft tissues and can show soft tissue lesions around the jaw, such as osteonecrosis of the jaw and soft tissue swelling.
Histological Diagnosis Histological examination is a gold standard for the diagnosis of many pathological diseases, for which staining is an essential component. Once the tissue sample has undergone fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining, it can undergo analysis through microscopy.
