Oral Submucous Fibrosis

Oral Submucous Fibrosis

Alta Stomatology is an innovative oral disease research company dedicated to developing effective solutions for oral submucous fibrosis. Oral submucous fibrosis is a form of pathological fibrosis which is characterized by progressive inability to open the mouth due to loss of elasticity and development of vertical fibrous bands in labial and buccal tissues. At Alta Stomatology, we're dedicated to offering one-stop services for oral submucous fibrosis research, including whole-genome sequencing, the development of novel therapies, and the molecular mechanisms behind this disorder. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us.

Research on Oral Submucous Fibrosis

Oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) is a potentially malignant condition of the oral cavity characterized by juxtraepithelial inflammatory reaction and progressive fibrosis of the lamina propria and deeper connective tissues of the upper digestive tract involving the oral cavity, oropharynx and frequently the upper third of the oesophagus. OSF results in an increasing loss of tissue mobility, marked rigidity and an eventual inability to open the mouth. The most commonly involved site is buccal mucosa, followed by palate, retromolar region, faucial pillars and pharynx.

It is considered to be a multifactorial disease, such as due to areca nut chewing, trace element disorders, and genetic susceptibility. However, there is still no unanimous conclusion on its pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment strategies. Exploring the pathogenesis of OSF can provide new insights into the research and treatment of this disease. The wide range of treatments currently used for oral submucous fibrosis is ample evidence that there is no simple answer to how it should be managed. Because of advancements in biotechnology, the research on OSF biomarkers has become more and more vigorous, which is helpful for the diagnosis of OSF and malignant transformation.

Our Services

At Alta Stomatology, we are committed to providing top-notch services in the field of oral disease research, specifically focusing on oral submucous fibrosis and and its prevention and treatment. Though the etiopathogenesis of OSF is still not completely clear, the current general view is that OSF development is the result of a combination of factors. Single or multiple biomarkers expression levels may also be used as a new OSF staging method for improvement of OSF evaluation index, evaluate OSF transformation to malignant tumor index, and for gene and targeted therapy.

Our Diagnosis Methods

At Alta Stomatology, we understand the importance of accurate diagnosis for effective treatment of oral submucous fibrosis. That's why we have developed cutting-edge diagnosis methods to guide the diagnosis and assessment of the severity of oral mucosa disease.

Diagnosis Methods Description
Histologic Analysis Tissues were fixed in formalin and subjected to routine processing, sectioning, and hematoxylin and eosin staining for histopathological evaluation. The stained sections were analyzed through image analysis software to observe histological changes.
