Background: |
CyP-D belongs to the peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase (PPIase) family and plays a crucial role in protein folding by catalyzing the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides. It is a key component of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore located in the inner mitochondrial membrane. The activation of this pore is believed to contribute to the initiation of both apoptotic and necrotic cell death. |
