Recombinant Human FGF Basic/FGF2/bFGF (157 aa) Protein

Cat. No.: SPOOMO00005
FGF basic is a member of the FGF family, a group of over 23 mitogenic proteins sharing 35-60% amino acid similarity. Unlike typical FGFs, FGF acidic and basic lack signal peptides and are secreted through unconventional pathways. FGF basic, isolated from various tissues including neural tissue and placenta, contains four cysteine residues but retains full biological activity even when disulfide bonds are reduced. It binds to heparin or cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans to interact with high-affinity FGF receptors, similar to FGF acidic. FGF basic stimulates proliferation in mesodermal-origin cells and many from neuroectodermal, ectodermal, and endodermal origins. It also induces neuron differentiation, survival, and regeneration. In vitro studies suggest FGF basic plays roles in embryonic development, angiogenesis, wound healing, tissue repair, and neuronal function. Its activities imply involvement in pathological conditions characterized by excessive cell proliferation and a

Description: FGF basic is a member of the FGF family, a group of over 23 mitogenic proteins sharing 35-60% amino acid similarity.
