Cat. No.: | SPOOMO00006 |
Noggin is part of a group of soluble proteins that bind to ligands from the TGF-β family, regulating their activity by blocking access to signaling receptors. This interaction plays a critical role during development, where the cellular response can vary significantly depending on the local concentration of the signaling molecules. Initially identified as an antagonist of BMP-4, noggin is essential for the proper formation of the head and other dorsal structures. It also modulates the activities of other BMPs such as BMP-2, BMP-7, BMP-13, and BMP-14. In mice, targeted deletion of the noggin gene leads to prenatal death and a recessive phenotype characterized by severe skeletal malformations. Conversely, transgenic mice that overexpress noggin in mature osteoblasts exhibit impaired osteoblastic differentiation, reduced bone formation, and severe osteoporosis. Recombinant Human Noggin is a disulfide-linked homodimer weighing 46 kDa, composed of two 205 amino acid polypeptide chains. In S | |

Description: | Noggin is part of a group of soluble proteins that bind to ligands from the TGF-β family, regulating their activity by blocking access to signaling receptors. This interaction plays a critical role during development, where the cellular response can vary significantly depending on the local concentration of the signaling molecules. Recombinant Human Noggin is a disulfide-linked homodimer weighing 46 kDa, composed of two 205 amino acid polypeptide chains. In SDS PAGE analysis under reducing conditions, glycosylated monomeric noggin typically migrates at an apparent molecular weight ranging from 28.0 to 33.0 kDa. |
