Synonym(s): |
Epidermal Growth Factor; Urogastrone; URG |
Description: |
EGF is a powerful growth factor that promotes the growth of different epidermal and epithelial cells. Moreover, EGF has been demonstrated to reduce gastric secretion and play a role in the healing of wounds. EGF exerts its effects through a receptor called c-erbB, a type I tyrosine kinase receptor. This receptor also interacts with TGF-α and VGF (vaccinia virus growth factor). Recombinant Murine EGF is a 6.0 kDa spherical protein composed of 53 amino acid residues, featuring 3 intramolecular disulfide bonds. |
