Research on Mixed Odontogenic Tumors

Mixed odontogenic tumors are a rare type of oral tumors characterized by tissue components containing a variety of different odontogenic tissues. This tumor can originate from various tissues such as dental pulp, dentin, periodontal ligament, and periodontal ligament. Mixed odontogenic tumors include all tumors of the teeth both epithelial and mesenchymatous.

Most of the tumors are rare (ameloblastic fibroma, ameloblastic fibro-odontoma and fibrodentinoma, odontoameloblastoma, calcified odontogenic cyst). Other tumors such as odontoma are frequent. What they have in common is that they are benign, usually observed incidentally, have a higher rate in the young adult and are surgically treated with complete exeresis to prevent recurrence. The typical forms of mixed odontogenic tumors in the jaws of children and adolescents are ameloblastic fibroma, ameloblastic fibroodontoma, complex odontoma, and compound odontoma. They present a radiolucent lacuna but appear different depending on the presence or not of intralesional calcifications revealing the production of more or less mature dental tissue.

Our Services

Mixed odontogenic tumors are a rare type of oral tumor originating from the tissues involved in tooth formation. These types of tumors are known as "mixed" because they consist of both epithelial (the outermost layer of tissue) and mesenchymal cells (the cells that produce connective tissues, blood, lymphatic, and other non-epithelial tissues). The basic research services help to gain an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms, classification and diagnostic criteria of mixed odontogenic tumors, provide clinicians with better treatment guidance and prognosis judgment, and also provide scientific basis for the development of new treatment methods.

We are pleased to offer comprehensive basic research services focused on mixed odontogenic tumors. Our team of experienced researchers and scientists is dedicated to advancing our understanding of mixed odontogenic tumors through cutting-edge experimental methodologies and techniques.
